Safari extension switches grayed out?

While you have blocked sites, iOS locks the Safari extension switches for every app on your phone — not just Descreened's. That's how iOS treats any active web filter. The fix is a short pause of site blocking, done from inside Descreened.

Pause blocking for 2 minutes

1. In Descreened, go to Settings, then Safari Extension.
2. Tap the pause button on the orange Extension switches locked card.
3. A countdown starts: "Blocking paused — 2:00 left."
4. Flip the extension switch you need in the Settings app, then come back.

Your apps stay shielded the whole time — only the web filter pauses. Blocking resumes automatically when the countdown ends. Done early? Tap Resume to re-lock right away; resuming is always free.

The pause is a fixed 2-minute window. Leaving the screen, or the app, doesn't end or extend it.

What a pause costs

The pause is also a 2-minute blocking bypass, so it's gated like one:

• First-time setup — your first pause is free. Tap Pause and go.
• After that — a pause takes your unlock challenge. Tap Unlock and complete it.
• With Strict Mode on — a pause costs an Emergency Unlock. The card shows how many you have left. With none left, you'll need to wait — they refill 30 days after each use.
• During an active Emergency Unlock window — pausing is free.

Tip: This lock applies to other apps' extensions too. If another app's Safari extension toggle is grayed out, pause from Descreened's Safari Extension screen, flip it, then Resume.
