Daily Limits: cap your time per day

A Daily Limit locks an app, site, or group after a set number of minutes of use each day. Usage counts from midnight to midnight and resets at midnight.

Set a limit

1. On the Restrict tab, open the app, site, or group.
2. Tap its daily limit row.
3. Type the minutes — anywhere from 1 to 1,440 — and tap Save.

Tap Disable Limit to remove it.

How limits behave

• Group limits are shared. Every app and site in the group draws from one total. Ten minutes on each of three apps uses 30 minutes of the group's limit.
• At the limit, the item locks for the rest of the day. You can pass your unlock challenge to keep going — unless Strict Mode is on, where only an Emergency Unlock works.
• Safari only. Time tracking on sites requires the Safari extension to be turned on. Time spent on sites outside Safari is not tracked.

Raising or removing a limit

Lowering a limit, or adding one where there was none, applies instantly. Raising or removing an existing limit is a loosening change, so Descreened asks when to apply it:

1. Today — complete your unlock challenge now.
2. Tomorrow — it takes effect at midnight. A pending row appears; tap Cancel to keep today's limit.

Under Strict Mode, only the tomorrow option is offered. While you're setting up a brand-new item, or during an Emergency Unlock window, changes apply freely.

Tip: Limits pair well with schedules. A schedule handles when you can use an app; the limit handles how much.
