Why some changes wait until midnight

Any change that makes Descreened stricter applies instantly. Any change that loosens today's restrictions needs to be earned by completing your current unlock challenge. Otherwise, the change is not applied until midnight. That's deliberate: it stops you from making changes in a weak moment.

Changes that count as loosening

• Editing a schedule so something unlocks earlier today.
• Raising or removing a Daily Limit.
• Switching your unlock method, or making it easier, while Require current method to switch is on.
• Moving an app or site to a group (or to Individuals) where it would be less restricted.
• Removing a locked app, site, or group.
• Turning off Strict Mode.
• Turning off Require current method to switch.

What you'll see

Most of these show a dialog with two choices:

1. Today — complete your unlock challenge now, and the change applies immediately.
2. Tomorrow — the change is queued and takes effect at midnight.

A few are stricter. Moves between groups and Individuals always wait until midnight. Turning off Strict Mode always waits until midnight. And while Strict Mode is on, the challenge option disappears everywhere — midnight is the only path.

Canceling a queued change

Every queued change shows a row or banner — like "Switches to PIN tomorrow" or "Strict mode turns off tomorrow" — with a Cancel button. Cancel any time before midnight and nothing changes.

The exceptions

• During an active Emergency Unlock window, you edit freely — no challenge, no waiting.
• Brand-new items you're still setting up can be adjusted freely on that first visit.
